New decision to reduce stress on students, parents express mixed reaction_
According to the new policy of CBSE, two board exams will be conducted from the academic year 2025-26 — one in October-November and the other in February-March. Students will be able to accept the best marks out of the two.
Mixed response from parents:
• Mrs. Seema Patil (Parent): “The child will feel less pressure because of two exams. But studying for exams repeatedly can damage their mental health.”
• Mr. Nitin Deshmukh (Parent): “This decision is right. If you get low marks the first time, it is beneficial to get a second chance.”
• Smt. Archana Joshi (Teacher): “This decision seems beneficial, but it should be implemented properly. Otherwise, confusion can increase.”
Education Ministry’s clarification:
The Ministry of School Education has clarified that this new system will reduce the pressure on children and students will face the exams with better preparation. This will avoid relying on a single ‘high-stakes’ exam.
This decision of CBSE is going to start a new chapter in the education sector. Although this will provide more opportunities to students, both doubts and expectations have been raised about its implementation.
